Binghamton is a nice university for those interested in business, nursing or just doing pre-reqs for medical/graduate schools. Those of you interested in arts should look elsewhere because that department has been really underfunded. The school has beautiful nature preserve which is nice for biology and environment class trips. The dorms are small but has lots of activities on campus that you can get involved in. Also maybe bring a car if you can... the bus are free but they are infrequent and so its hard to get around especially in the winter (speaking of which, buy a thick thick winter jacket if you are not that tolerable to the cold). The students in my class were quite competitive and likes to work in close groups to study for exams (maybe just for the science people). Most people study hard (a few also party hard on the weekend) but its not much a party school as people might tell you. Really depends on what you want for yourself. My advice for you are to get more involved in activities and find time to relax and enjoy college life.

There were many positives to my experience at SUNY at Binghamton (Binghamton University). I attended to receive a Master's Degree in Elementary Education. The biggest plus was the excellent teaching staff. I felt like the professors knew their curriculum and they were very accessible to the students. Also, the classes were oriented to a practical curriculum that a teacher could use in the classroom. The one part I didn't like is that there were some professors who were not understanding of the fact that many of the students were already working as full-time teachers. This sometimes caused a conflict between their expectations and what I was trying to accomplish in my own classroom. If I had to do it over again I would attend Binghamton University, but only if I was not already a full-time teacher. I think there are other colleges that offer programs more suited for people already working in the schools.

I would not recommend this college. I rather that they apply to a better school. THe pros are that its a large school so theres alot of resources, the cons are that the students are really ignorant. THese must be one of the stupidest campuses in the US. I would definately not go to this school

Binghamton leads a wide list of both pros and cons, my experience telling that it boast a few pros more than cons. While the weather is conastantly cloudy, snowing, or flooding, you do get the occasional sunny day, with this year giving us a major droubt of cold weather. Academically, the school boasts some of the best classes in the SUNY system, with many hard working proffesors and grad students, but unfortunatly has the occasional "I don't care about the students, I'm here on a grant" professor. While there is severe grade inflation in the english department, the school is best recognized for it's engineering and buissness schools. Socially, Binghamton is extremely lackluster. Choices range to paying a 5 dollar cover fee to a frat party, or sneaking into a local bar with a chalked ID. Other than that, "Late Night Binghamton" is held in the student union, showing weekly recent box office movies, but mostly wasting your time with board games and crafts. Dating wise, one should expect to meet horny members of the opposite sex, but not think they're in for a long term commitment. The food is bearable, but the meal plan a rip off.

The school was so damn cheap. They hired ex-cons to serve us food at the dining halls. They were all weird and gross looking. And the food sucked. Worse than eating instant noodles. Worse is that they wouldnt do anything about it. Wont let other people set up food on campus, only Sodexho Marriot which for us, was terrible slop. The office staff did not care about the students. The career counselors gave bad advice (told me to drop out of school when I didnt know what to major in). The must've not treated the professors well either because many of the good econ professors had left within my 4 years in school. The good points, well, the student population is very intelligent, the curriculum was decent. The school does have a good ranking and the students do come out fairly successful (which is mostly due to the admission selection process. They do select many good people who are fairly intelligent and success oriented). The city itself, which doesnt have anything to do with the school per se, is dark and dismal. It always rained and was cloudly alot. Very depressing. Overall, I regretted choosing this college. Could have gone somewhere much better.
