The best advice I can give to you before deciding on St. John's University is to be sure of the career that you want to get in to. If you are undecided, go to a cheaper school first to receive your Associates degree, unless you have a full scholarship to St. John's. This school is a very good one and I fully recommend it to those who can afford its tuition. If I had to do it all over again, I would not have attended this school because I put my family into thousands of dollars of debt to go to a school where I could have learned the same thing for much less elsewhere. The pros of the school is the campus, activities, and atmosphere. The cons is the cost of tuition and all of the theology courses, although I did learn a lot that I didn't know before.
I think that the university has some good and bad things about it. The good things are that the school has great business and accounting programs that can set you up with great careers after you graduate from the school. The bad thing is the residence policies are horrible, you have to show your i.d. card to people manning security desks at your residence hall each time you have to enter. You have to sign in guests everytime you want someone to come into your residence hall that doesnt live there. You have to sign out guests by 12 on weekdays and 2 on weekends, but you can sign in a guest overnight. That sounds great but you cannot have people of the opposite sex as overnight visitors, so if you have a girlfriend or boyfriend from another building or another school that wants to visit, they cannot stay the night. Another bad thing is usually there is not too much to do around the campus and sometimes it can get pretty boring. A lot of the students leave on the weekend and if your a guy good luck cause their arent a lot of good looking girls.
