Skidmore is a remarkable school that is best for those who are independent thinkers and workers, willing and eager to take charge of their own education. Professors are, for the most part, genuinely interested in their students' well-being and want to see them do well. Extracurricular activities are plentiful and most students are very involved in a number of diverse activities. The social life has room for those who don't want to do the "party" thing, as well as those who do. The campus itself and town of Saratoga Springs is scenic and full of interesting shops, restaurants and outdoor activities.
Skidmore is a pretty good school. It has a well-deserved reputation as a party school, but there are quite a few facutly members who care about providing a good educational experience.
It desires to compete with schools like Williams, but it falls short. There's a reputation that it's a place for dartmouth applicants who partied too hard in high school - that's true.
