SLC is a stellar college for students who want close personal attention from professors and the opportunity to influence the direction of their education. Nearly every class is writing-intensive, so students really learn to express their views and dig deep into subjects. Most classes include a "conference project" that involves biweekly one-on-one discussion with their professor, adding to the unparalleled access they get to some of the finest minds in the country. The student culture is mostly very liberal, passionate, and maybe a little too small and incestuous, but luckily Manhattan is just a 40-minute train ride away when you need to escape. SLC grads typically are flexible and fearless later in life, believing they can do anything (and thus succeeding at whatever they want to do).
Enrollment in forensics programs has soared since the TV show "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" first began airing, with many colleges experiencing a 100-400% growth in applicants
