San Diego State is a legendary party school. For those looking for a solid education this can be found here as well. The academic side of the school is better than it's reputation. The things to watch out for are to not get caught up in the party scene and be disciplined enough to go to class and study. It can be frustrating at times when you are trying to do the right thing and some idiot is not taking class seriously or has any sense of study time. I would recommend this college for someone looking for a balanced experience of fun and academics. I probably would go somewhere else if I had to make the choice again simply due to the repuation of the school not being very respected in my field.

I would definitely recommend this college, each year SDSU gets more competitive making it a very sought after choice for undergraduate work in California. It is one of the top schools in the CSU system and has a wonderful location in San Diego. Not only is the college close to beaches, shopping and amazing restaurants the campus is also beautiful. Some programs are stronger than other majors and as a sophomore and junior you get last pick of classes during registrations. However, teachers are almost all very willing to give additional help and one on one time with any students that need help. The area surrounding SDSU known as College Area is a great environment full of fellow students allowing for a laid back atmosphere surrounding the school. It was a great experience with a competitive atmosphere, and it is only a 'party school' if you allow it be.

One of the first tips that I have for anyone planning to attend this university is that you should definately only stay in the dorms if you are an incomming freshman. Second don't waste study time by going to TJ during the school week. Another peice of advice is to know your limits and don't party too hard if your education is going to suffer because of it. I love this school and you will too.

Even though it had a reputation as a party school when I went there, SDSU offers a great education for those who want it. I found wonderful, caring, intelligent professors who cared about their students. The classes were mostly great and I learned a lot, even though I was also working full time which many students do. Not many people graduate in 4 years - too tough to get your classes to fit your schedule. Parking sucks and it's tough to get housing on campus. There's always the temptation in sunny San Diego to play rather than go to class, so dedicate yourself to your education. You can always go to the beach after your graduate! There are lots of activities after class, great football and basketball teams (esp. the women's team!), clubs, research and internship opportunities and of course, the setting and the weather are both absolutely beautiful.
