While many people may thing Rutgers University Newark Campus is a scary place to go since it's in the middle of the ghetto, nothing can be far from the truth. Before attending college there I was scared because of the location. Within a week, I felt right at home. Rutgers is in a great location in Newark surrounded by other colleges such as NJIT, Essex County Community College, Seton Hall Law School, Rutgers Law School, etc. It is a great area filled with many great places to meet other people in college. They have many clubs and the Greek life is huge as there are many different sororities and fraternities on campus.
The classes at Rutgers are great. I can honestly say that I was never in a class with more than about 18 other people. There is always help and free advising when students need help with anything at all and there a wide variety of majors and areas of study for students to chose from. Rutgers even offers programs for you to go and study abroad.
Rutgers is also a fun place to be. They are always having events on campus with music and/or free food. There is a very large cafeteria in Robeson campus center and you can even find a pool hall and video arcade at Rutgers. There are also several bars and restaurants located nearby along with a museum so there is always something to do if you want to kill time inbetween classes!
I really loved my experience at Rutgers and I feel that it really helped prepare me for the real world. What's even better is Rutgers is one of the most diverse Universities in the country so you get to meet people from all different backrounds. I recommend Rutgers to everyone and hope that all that go there enjoy their time as much as I did.
