  I would highly recommend Radford to students who prefer a good Professor to Student ratio in the classroom. It is the kind of University where people know each other's names in classes such as English 101 etc. The campus and ammenities are fabulous. As an incumbent student, I highly suggest staying in the dorm, where you can truly develop strong friendships with your colleagues. If your dorm is Muse Hall, get there early on move in day and be prepared to walk a long way to bring your stuff in. Get a loft and minimize your belongings to the bare necessities. The rooms are nice & share a bathroom...no common bathroom nightmares!

  The pros of this school is its small size, proximity to a medium sized city (Roanoke) and the location. The cons are not having a football team, not having a very visible recognition, and not enough diversity.

  This college offers smaller classes versus the sizes larger colleges may have. It is a small campus all together, it has female and co-ed dorms, they offer a work study program, many activities, and there are things to do in town outside of school...if you have a car or a ride. I do recommend the college because the class sizes are just right, you get to meet all kinds of people from everywhere, there are many activities to do and organizations to join, etc. I chose this school because it was @ 6 hours from family, I knew some people who attended there, and because I wanted some freedom away from home, which this was close by but far away. Pros: small class sizes, work study program, able to have car if you are a Junior or Senior, shuttle services to sports dome, campus is all together so you don't have to walk for miles to get to classes, etc., snack machines take cash-loadable cards, as well as cafeteria accepts. Cons: cannot have car first 2 years, female only and co-ed dorms which they should be either or, grocery store and town shops are on the other side of town which you need a car or someone you know to have a car or you pay for a cab, food is cafeteria food, LOTS of partying at this school so if you aren't into it, don't go! This school is nestled in Radford, VA, about 30 minutes from Va. Tech, and is very quiet and unique. It is all together except for sorrority/fraternity housing and off campus housing, but it is a great school where you can get a great education, if that's what you are looking for. They are a party school, but don't let it inhibit your studies!

  My advice for incoming freshman is to keep your head on straight. Radford can be a party school but so can a lot of colleges, if you go in knowing what you want to achieve and have a game plan then you will achieve. The professors are very open to helping the students and are almost always available during office hours. The campus facilities are nice and there are several activities to choose from! I would choose Radford again because their College of Business is great, being a business major, I should know!

  This school is great! The campus is beautiful, the food is good, the dorms are great, and if you're the kind of person who wants to party, you can. Some people think of Radford as a 'party school', but it really isn't unless you make it that way.

  Work hard if you are considering this college. I would recommend this college. I would still choose this college even if I can do it over. The pros is that it has a nice campus. Its fairly competitive in here,

  Radford University is a school that offers a lot of options to students in a small town environment. Although over 8000 students attend, this is not a school where you will get lost -- in class or crossing campus! You'll get individual attention here if you apply yourself and request it. And it is not unheard of to attend a reception at the President's house. The Greek scene is not huge, but they do have a significant presence on campus -- you can't miss the signature black pants of sisters and their matching T-shirts! However, I never experienced pressure to join -- there's a niche for everyone. This is NOT New York City! Those seeking adventure outside of rafting, mountain climbing and skiing should look elsewhere! VA Tech is a short 30 minute drive and Blacksburg offers more going out options. RU is expanding constantly and despite it's party school claim to fame, many students go on to specialized grad schools. One last tip on some local lingo -- one side of campus is referred to as the dark side (due to exactly that - lack of lights) and the other is the light side (or 7-11 side). Note: the required entry level course for freshman, University 100, may seem like a waste of time -- it depends totally on the instructors (Prof. and upperclass student teacher).
