This is a very good school for engineering students, especially those interested in network design and algorithm development. The school also has an excellent management program with satelite campuses in Manhattan and Westchester. If I had to do it over again, I would because the faculty are excellent. Tips for students considering this college -- study hard, because the classes aren't easy. Unlike some other larger schools, the faculty is accessible to students and asking for help early on is a good way to get it. The con of the school is that the main campus is in Brooklyn, which may not be a convenient location for students. I had a very long commute to go to school here, but it was worth it as I got a very good education.
Polytechnic has it's advantages and disadvantages. What's good about Poly? They are very generous with scholarships, the full weight of this can be appreciated when paying back your student loans. They have great professors and you will be getting a top-notch education. The facilities are first class and the entire campus is outfitted with wireless capabilities. The setting in downtown brooklyn is great as well. They also work closely with many institutions to help students get intern and full-time work positions. What's bad? Don't expect a social life. Poly is approximately 97% male so don't expect to find many dates. They don't offer much in the way of sports and their gym isnt so hot either (if you can find it). The student body is largely foreigners who are dedicated solely to their studies. So don't ecxpect any partying or well... anything even close to it.
