Pacific Lutheran Univeristy is a great college down in Tacoma, Washington. I grew up in Seattle, and wanted to get away from home but not too far away. It was small enough that I wasn't going to get lost, like at the University of Washington, with 25,000 or more students, and it wasn't as small as some of my friends colleges--anywhere that was smaller than my higschool of 1500 was not acceptable.
Of course, my decision was also influenced by the fact that I got a great financial aid package. AT that time, I was the only person in my family in college, so I didn't get any aid from the state schools. The offer from PLU put it right on par, cost-wise with any otherschool Iwas accepted at.
Teachers were great, students were great, the area is not somewhere I'd want to walk around late at night by myself, but the area is improving. The school has undergone a lot of remodling in the last 10 years, and the new facilities are beautiful!
The school also has a real commitment to the community, both locally and internationally. I'm really glad to have made a lot of connections there that I woudln't have made otherwise! |
