Northern is a great school--their laptop program is a wonderful way for students to use technology in their classes and research. The campus is lovely as well.
Great location. Marquette is a pleasant city with beautiful scenery.
The school focuses on teaching and learning, not on research.
I was in the computer/business program. The business school is great, but the technical side was poor. Many of the professors are way behind current advance technology.
NMU was a very friendly college when it came to the admissions process and for first time students. I found the staff to be helpful and inviting, something vital for freshman. The only downside I could see with NMU was its location: pretty far away for most people, and once you exited Marquette, there was nothing but land and small towns.
I would go back to NMU if I could, and I encourage anyone who loves the outdoor life to at least consider them. There are so many things to do from skiing in winter to swimming in the summer months.
Enrollment in forensics programs has soared since the TV show "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" first began airing, with many colleges experiencing a 100-400% growth in applicants
