  Good school for engineering training. Also has very good supporting departments in the basic and applied sciences and mathematics / statistics. Outside of this broad area, the education and also the desing schools are well regarded. On the downside, has an ugly campus with a busy trainline running right through the middle of it.

  NC State University in Raleigh, in terms of education, is a great choice for anyone who is majoring in the engineering field. They're very in tune with the needs of engineers, especially in the agricultural and computer concentrations. The programs for engineering allow for numerous choices in courses and the professors certainly know what they're talking about. However, NC State also has a great film program, probably something very little known about it. I am currently a film major at NC State and the professors engage students about film very well, and I feel like I am learning a great deal about the field. The majority of the students and staff at NC State are very cooperative, nice people, and a lot of the classes are small so that you don't feel like a number and can actually converse with your professors. The university is also perfectly located and there are lots of things to do around campus without having to go very far; food places are diverse for the average college student, and Raleigh has numerous theaters for those who are studying film.

  Don't be phased by the unlovely campus. NCSU is a great school, especially for engineering. Raleigh might not be the most exciting location ever, but there are plenty of cultural and other opportunities available if you put in the effort to find them!

  It is a big school but with the large classes comes a lot of opportunity. Opportunity such as more types of classes and a myriad of activities to participate in when your not in class. If you don't like red I would not come here since every building on campus is made of red brick except for two of them.

  NC State is an excellent school and many departments are real diamonds in the rough. You sometimes have to be really self motivated to interact with faculty because the school is so large they don't really seek you out to have one-on-one interaction like smaller schools. Also, in the sciences the primary focus is research so some professors are less than interested or good at teaching. I think if I had to do it again I would either have attended a smaller school or planned my time at NC State better so I could have explored my other interests better. Overall I am happy with the experience I had and I do feel that I was excellently prepared for the real world.

  The college is great and very-well rounded. It is also large enough where you can have your own set of friends and also meet new people on a daily basis. I have always had a great time there and given the choice, i would definitely do it again.

  This is an upper tier land grant institution. We have our share of awful professors and redneck students but there are also plenty of very smart people and enough of them that you can find someone with your interests. For the life sciences and engineering, we are arguably the best in North Carolina.
