Montreat is a very small private Christian college. While I would not suggest attending this college for something like a degree in Communications, I would highly recommend it for someone with an interest in pursuing a career in Elementary Education, Outdoor Education, or Biblical studies. The campus is extremely small, which can be both a positive and negative aspect. The small size of the student body allows a lot of personal attention from professors, but it also means that skipping class is not an option. Another negative aspect of Montreat is the strict rules. Dorms are strictly governed by a visitation policy, and students must attend 20 chapels per semester. The main features about Montreat that I enjoyed were the beautiful campus and the very talented and knowledgeable professors, but if I had a second chance, I would have picked a different school.
