It's a good school overall. The campus is huge, there's a very international slant with lots of foreign students and a well-developed study abroad program. There are good residential college options in the arts and humanities, natural sciences, and political sciences. It's cold in the winter and the parking situation is terrible, but otherwise I highly recommend it. I recommend getting housing that doesn't require you to drive anywhere if you can.

Michigan State University is a great school with many opportunities. It's large size means there is something available for everyone. MSU also has a great student life with great sports teams, student organizations, and events. East Lansing also has a good party scene for those looking for some off campus fun.

OK, first of all, I attended MSU in the early '70s so I'm sure alot has changes, but yes, if had to do it again, I would. I loved being on an extremely large campus because there were so many activities to choose from. Large class size was a negative, and at times I did feel lost in the shuffle, but overall I had a positive experience. The psychology dept. had excellent faculty and classes to choose from. Also, if you hare interested in going into hotel management this is a great school. I liked the dorm food and there were tons of places to eat off campus. East Lansing is a nice little town.

I loved this school. The campus is beautiful, there is a very large, diverse student body and many majors to choose from. The town it's in is great and I just had a really positive experience there.

I recommend this school for anyone who likes to party! I had a lot of fun at Michigan State. If anyone that does not like to party, then you'd probably not want to go there. Michigan State also has some very good classes. They are great for computer engineers and veterinarians.

Overall Michigan State Academically is everything I could have hoped for. The bad points are that the campus is gigantic and I find myself trying to get to class a mile away (no exaggeration) at 8:00 in the morning in the thick of january, and the students seem to always want to drink. Substance abuse seems to dominate social activities for the most part. I personally am not into Big 10 sports very much so thats my own personal thing, and I'm not looking for the Van Wilder experience. So it's not for me, but you get what you want if you look in the right places - and if you like Busch Lite... Infact if i get to go and do it over again I shall not go at all.Anyways its everybody's own liking and disliking but i would suggest them to decide by going and visiting the campus once before joining.

I would definately recommend MSU to a lot of people. The school is really good for business and agriculture degrees, among others. This school is also really great for people that enjoy or play sports. The sports teams at MSU are a huge priority. There is a good sense of community there also and lots of opportunities to join groups and clubs basically in anything you could want. There is also a big emphasis on greek life. So, if you are not interested in sports, business, and fraternities this might not be the best place for you.

This is a very big univerisity. It is easy to feel lost here, although there are some very good academic programs. It may be better for someone who has a very narrow major, rather than general studies. If I had to choose again, I might go there. I felt that a lot of money was spent on advertising and sports rather than on what would improve the average student's experience.

Michigan State gave me my ideal college experience. Although it may seen overwhelming to attend a college that had over 40,000 students and a very large campus, once you learn your way around, it quickly becomes home. MSU offers a variety of majors and classes and also many extra-curricular activites. Academic pros would be that there are many different classes available, even within your chosen major. I found I was able to specialize in what I specifically wanted to do once I graduated. What I did not like about the academics at MSU were the freshman requirement classes and the fact that more often than not, they were taught by a Teacher's Assistant (TA) and there were so many sections of the class all taking the same test I found it difficult to take a test written by professor who did not teach the class. What I'm trying to say is that I found that the TA did not always lecture on everything that was on the exam. I guess that is what you get when there are literally thousands of people taking one particular class. My social experience at MSU was amazing. I met so many amazing people as well as found that everyone was very friendly. There's a comradery at MSU that I haven't found anywhere else. There are so many things going on on and around campus that you can always find something to do. Once you turn 21 there are bars around campus to fit any type of scene you are looking for. The shopping around campus is great and there are tons of good places to eat. The only con I can think of for the social aspect of attending MSU was that that due to the size of campus and depending on where you live, transportation can be difficult. Riding the bus isn't bad but it doesn't run all night. I graduated 5 years ago from MSU with my BS in Human Ecology. Every time I'm watching a Spartan basketball or football game at home I'm wishing I was back in East Lansing. It was the greatest time of my life and I will always wear my green and white with pride! GO GREEN!

Michigan State University offers many undergraduate programs. So many that it's hard to keep track of. I came here to study journalism and they offer a wonderful program that includes information graphics which is what I want to go into. The JRN school is a great facility if you are planning on going to MSU. If I did have to do it over again I would definately come here, MSU offers so many extracurricular activities and that is why I stayed here. I have made so many friends and experienced wonderful things. I help out with the student concernts, work for the paper, and also help put on weekend activities. MSU offers just about everything, it would be hard not to find something you like. Even though our school is know for the Final Four riots, it's really not even about that, a lot of the people participating in those riots didn't even attend MSU, and that's a fact. Go to MSU if you get a chance, it's amazing.

Michigan State is a large, vibrant school with a diverse student body and a large, beautiful campus, and the school is committed to protecting many of these large, scenic, park-like settings. Unfortunately, the large size can be intimidating to some and can make it difficult to get around campus, esp. as freshmen are restricted from having cars. Even if you do have a car, parking is extremely scarce and expensive. The best option for students is to either use a bicycle or the bus system. Athletics at Michigan State are very important to most students, especially Basketball and Hockey, which are both championship-caliber programs. The football program struggles but is very popular with the student body. Michigan State is located in and around East Lansing MI. There is a small downtown strip that contains basically everything there is to do in East Lansing - venture far from there and it becomes dead quickly, although it is not far from Lansing proper for students with vehicles. The East Lansing City Council and East Lansing Police force are extremely unfriendly to the student body, creating a very tense relationship between residents and students, but most students will not be personally affected by this. I would recommend Michigan State to any potential student who is not afraid of being part of a very large student body, who is interested in social activities and athletics in equal parts with education, and particularly to students considering a degree in packaging, business, or accounting.

My tip would be to buy the cheapest books you can after the first class, get the syllabus to see if you can get a used book, not the Newest version. My second advice would be only get classes that start at 10am and later, nothing at 8am, its too early and you miss classes. Third, attendance to classes is super important to good grades cause test questions come from lectures and stuff written on the board or overhead projector.
I recommend this college yes.
The pros are great reputation. The con is too much chance of partying and not graduating.
What you should know is it has a great library and great computer labs and good food.

MSU is a great school, but it is really big. That's probably the number one thing that's hard about going to it. I would recommend going to MSU 100%. I would definitely go to MSU again if I had the chance to do it again. I'd say the most important thing people should know about MSU is that it doesn't matter if you're just an average student in high school or if you're really smart - MSU has something for everyone. It's not just a "party school."

Michigan State was fantastic. I lived in the dorm (Akers) for two years and completed my degree off campus. I was able to work in the dorm all four years. First as a cafeteria cook during the main terms during the year. During the summer I worked as a painter of the dorms. My college was paid for by my parents, so I was not supporting myself, but the experience was great. I was able to earn spending money, learn about work and people. It was a beautiful campus. Bike paths line the entire interior. You can get to class easily by bike, walking, or bus. Another great support at MSU was the bus lines. You were able to hop on the bus outside your dorm and take it across campus at any time of day and late into the night. Entertainment was available in the dorms, at the planetarium, and movies shown at a hall. It was truly an excellent experience and I recommend it to all.

I really enjoyed going to school at Michigan State University. The campus is awesome and the professors are world class. I've made a lot of friends in my time here, and hardly ever have I had to look hard for something fun to do. East Lansing is one of the better college towns that I have been to. It's a large school, but I always found that my professors were willing to get to know you if you made any effort at all. For the most part, they sincerely care about you. The administration can be difficult to deal with, but usually a trip across campus to take care of business in person will ensure that it gets done right.

My advice to students going to Michigan State would be that college is what you make of it, so take advantage of the opportunities that are available. Specifically for students entering the sciences, the value of going to a large state university is that there is an abundance of laboratories doing great research that are always in need of help from undergraduates. Students should take advantage of that opportunity, because it is not available in the same scope at a smaller private school. I would definitely attend Michigan State University again, as it has prepared me well to continue my education in biochemistry.
