McNeese is a very small community college. It has a hometown feeling. The instructors are very knowledgeable and put forth a vested interest in each student. The facilities are a bit out dated however there is a big sense or honor and belonging among the college students. They have a number of athletic sporting events along with sororities and fraternities. They are noted for having a top of the line nursing school. There is a variety of fields to major and minor in at McNeese.
My advice to students attending McNeese would be to take advantage of the resources on campus. Take interest in your classes and what your professors are teaching. Take the time to get to know your fellow students and professors. The con's would be that it is a very small college so you do not get the advantage of getting that once in a life time internship where you have the opportunity to make huge amounts of money. What I can say is that if you are a young person that wants to slowly transition into college, McNeese would be the place to do it. You have the sense of College but the feel of a community college.
This is a very good small school...it has a wonderful business program, strong engineering program and solid arts programs. Sports teams are usually national contenders in their respective divisions. You might not get the full "university" experience here because it is mainly a commuter college, but if education is the main objective, it's a good choice.
