I went to Longwood for the small town atmosphere and small class sizes. I immediately regretted my decision when the RA would not help me with an aweful roommate situation, the staff ignored emails asking questions, and my advisor didn't tell me which classes I should've been taking

Longwood University is a great school located in a small town in Virginia. If you're looking for a large campus and an even larger metropolitan area this is probably not the school for you. I personally loved the small town atmosphere. The school and community are growing however with 4,350 students at the moment. Every year new companies are building here (Ruby Tuesdays, Papa Johns, Quiznos, etc.) so you're not completely cut off, and Richmond is only 45 minutes away if you need the bigger companies. Longwood offers a lot of one on one teaching. I got to personally know my professors and was not just a number. Though policies and politics can be annoying sometimes and get in the way, overall I did not experience to many problems with administration. In fact I loved the area and the school so much when I graduated, I applied to work there and now work full time for Longwood. Lots of groups and activities available, big greek life if that's your thing, plenty of other options if it's not. There's something to do literally every weekend. I'd recommend this school to anyone looking for a small town atmosphere with lots of life and options.

You can find this and many other stories at http://longwood-university-sucks.org/ - all of them are licensed under the GNU Free Document License. This is a perfect example of how the Longwood Administration functions. To keep viruses off of student's computers, they have created regulations and sanction students for violating them. So If your PC gets infected with a virus from the network LONGWOOD RUNS, they punish accordingly: * First Virus - they take you offline and clean your PC. Cool - works for me. * Second Virus - they take your PC and erase everything on it, just to get the virus off. Worse, you're charged $35 per hour for them to do this. As further punishment, you're blocked from the internet for a week after this. * Third Virus - Same as second virus but you're also referred to the judicial board for disciplinary action. Great school with a beautiful campus. Great greek life. Definately a school you have to get into greek or club life. I would definately recommend this school and would pick this school again if i had to do it all over again. The major con is that it is a small school and can get some what like high school with gossip and small town life. It does have the best food for any college i have been to.

This University has a beautiful campus in a small town, in the foothills of Virginia. If you want a smaller college size, with a small town, community feel, than this is the place for you. There are plenty of things to do in the area, but if you are looking for tons of bars, clubs, and parties, this is not the place. They have a great student to faculty ratio and the faculty and staff are willing to help you out in most cases.
