If you are considering Lawrence University for your undergraduate degree, it's important to consider the size of the campus. If possible, a visit to the campus should give you an impression of what life's like on the campus of a small Midwestern liberal arts university. Compare that to other, larger university campuses you may have visited, and you can see there's a significant difference between the small, intimate atmosphere offered by Lawrence, and the larger, more cosmopolitan feel of a larger institution.
As a graduate of Lawrence, I recommend it highly. There is a feel to it, and a quality to the education that we refer to as "the Lawrence difference." It's a broad term that takes in the quality of the studies, the campus, the conservatory of music, the professors, and the unique educational experience.
The pros are the outstanding learning environment and access to the professors that a small college offers, along with a first-rate conservatory of music. The only con I would report is that Appleton, WI is a small town with a small town feel, and that translates into some dull winter days with not much going on! But the university does an excellent job filling those days with on-campus activities, so the days go by.
One of the fun activities the university is known for is its "Trivia Weekend," with teams from all over the campus and the city going head to head in a no holds barred trivia contest covering any conceivable topic. It may sound odd, but it's a blast!
Give Lawrence University a close look. The "Lawrence difference" could just be for you. |
