This is one of the most active, fun-loving, motivated student bodies in all of America, and it happens to be in one of the most active, fun-loving, motivated towns in all of America. Ithaca College is an amazing school for anything from Music majors to Business Administration majors, and it is the perfect medium between large and small schools. I would choose this school every time if I had to do the college process over a hundred times, and you must visit the school to get the full experience.
Be prepared for the weather. In Ithaca it tends to start snowing in October and stop sometime in April. The hills can be difficult for anyone from flatter regions (like the Midwest).
If possible, everyone should try to take advantage of Ithaca's study abroad program. The Ithaca College London Centre was probably the best part of my time at IC.
I'm not sure if I would choose to go to this college again. I made a lot of great friends and had some good times, but I don't think the climate was a good match for me. The small mountain town can also get a bit claustrophobic at times.
I enjoyed my time at this wonderful school. The classes were well set up with plenty of student teacher interaction. I would recommend this school to anyone who likes the majors they offer. I would return for any post grad studies without hesitation. One thing to be aware of is the town is amazing. the small shops on the commons and the rest of the area is fantastic. This school has some of the most amazing views. The night life is also something to behold.
As a violin performance major (graduate student) with a music education background from a top school, I was disappointed with the level of education I received, as well as that which I saw offered to other students. The selection of useful electives was not very good, so I took some classes at Cornell University. The program for doing this has been greatly improved, partly due to my efforts in accomplishing this! That partnership is a plus for all Ithaca College students, the ability to take classes at Cornell, however inconvenient. I was also disappointed that string education majors were not student teaching in public schools for their entire requirement. Their experience is diminished by this fact. I loved Ithaca, Ny, though. It's the most wonderful town you could live in.
