	High Point University is a privately-run university in High Point, North Carolina. The school was founded as High Point College in 1924 as a joint venture between the Methodist Protestant Church and the city of High Point. High Point officially became a university in 1991. High Point's athletic teams have competed at the Division I level since 1999 and play in the Big South Conference.
