I attended Hamline University School of Law in its weekend program. I would absolutely recommend Hamline to anyone who is interested in a learning environment where the professors know your name, are genuinely interested in you and your career goals and who foster an environment that encourages free discussion over any topic. I would attend Hamline again as a graduate student. Further, I wish I had attended Hamline as an undergraduate because of the small class sizes and the caliber of professors at the university. I experienced two cons at Hamline. First, parking can be difficult and second there was some crime occurring on the surrounding streets. However, Hamline security took a proactive approach and offered escorts and always notified the students of the specifics of the criminal activity.

This is a great college, but in sort of a rough part of town. I think the best part is the small classes and the different clubs you can get involved with. The professors are neat, but very hippy! Also, the guys can be a little bit "self absorbed."

I enjoyed attending Hamline. Socially, they make it very easy for first year students to attend. You attend FYSEM (first year seminar) where you live on the same floor as people you have your FYSEM class with (sort of like a grown up homeroom). You make a lot of friends, and the staff is very welcoming at Hamline.
However, a large emphasis at Hamline is placed on living at their dorms. I felt slightly out of place my first year there, as I didn't live on campus. My sophomore year, however, I chose to live there and get the "full" Hamline experience.
Professors are very knowledgeable, food is actually pretty good, and my overall Hamline experience was very good.
The cost, however, was quite high...and I personally felt the quality of my education was comperable to that of "cheaper" colleges. However, the Hamline name says a lot to prospective employees, and for those looking for a private college, Hamline is a good place to start your research.
