I would highly recommend this college. I received my B.S. in Computer Science from this college. The professors are excellent. Some of my professors had written the textbooks used in our classes and in many campuses in the U.S. The resources available to students are great. The school of computer science is doing research with NASA. They are in the cutting edge of technology. There are many extracurricular activities and something fun is always going on in the student center. A really great school!
If you're thinking of attending FIU, be sure of the teachers you take. This is probably the most important thing to consider, this is because of the diversity of the faculty. Its good in that there is an array of teachers from different parts of the world with different ideas, methods, etc. However sometimes the communication (native accents) can be somewhat of a problem. Other qualites such as teaching style, difficulty of the teacher/course are equally important in researching your professor.
I would recommend this college because there weren't many drawbacks. If there was one, it was parking and it was the largest drawback. You have to get on campus at least 40 - 45 minutes before your class to give you time to find parking, and thats with four garages and several parking lots located on campus. Other than that I never really had any negative experiences. The faculty is helpful and caring, the people are lively and there is a lot of involvement with student activities.
This is a good school in a ver centralized area of the city. They have amenities open well into the night. The library is excellent and abundant. The online programs are very well laid out. The classes are very good, and the professors are excellent. The only bad thing is the traffic at all hours everyday.
