Emerson is a great communication school, and it's great for networking. Unfortunately, it's really expensive and the school administrators don't care too much about the students. There isn't enough on-campus housing for everyone, so upperclassmen get to live off campus. yay for paying rent on top of tuition.
Emerson's programs are great, but their administration sucks.
The teachers are awesome. Well, most of the teachers.
Emerson is mostly what you put into it. In order to get the most out of Emerson, expect to put alot of time into extra-curriculars. Joining clubs etc. will teach you moe and get you mush further than your classes will. You will be learning from alot of professionals--people who have real jobs and teach on the side. While this is great in the sense that all of your teachers are very much connected to the subjects they are teaching, its not so great when their real job pays them more and comes before teaching your class does. I had quite a few teachers go missing for a week or two for the sake of an art installation or working on a production somewhere. Overall, I got a good education, but I'm not sure it was worth the money. Looking back I wish I had gone to a state school as an undergrad and considered Emerson for Grad school.
Emerson is okay. Some of the professors really know what they're doing in their field, but some have absolutely no clue. The administration is terrible, and forget reliable financial aid. The housing is hit or miss, as well. Some dorms are nice, some, not so nice. The best thing about the college (besides being in Boston) and something you must do is attend Kasteel Well, a semester abroad living and studying in a 12th century Dutch castle.
Emerson is a great college if you are looking for a small open-minded school. Classes are small so you get to know your proffesors, and people are all really open minded and free spirited. It's in a great location in Boston and the facilities are really modern. If you go there, you should do the overseas castle program for a semester, because it is the best program the school offers. Also, if you are thinking about going there, you really need to be sure you want to work in media/communication/performing arts, because thats all an emerson degree is good for.
