I would recommend this college if you or your parents have enough money that you will not have to worry about loans. The flight costs are very expensive, and the flight school experience feels somewhat like an assembly line. The academics are definitely not worth the $30,000 price tag for tuition alone, though the dorms are very nice, as many of them have been recently built or renovated. There is an ample number of extracurriculars, and the IM sports are fun. If you like being around future military types, this is the school for you.

I have attended this University for four years and I am graduating just as planned. I have completed my private instrument, commercial, commercial instrument, CFI, and CFII. I have been very happy with the quality of training and the academics that went along with it. The teachers are high quality and the buildings are relatively brand new. I would absolutely recommend this University to anyone serious about becoming an Airline Pilot.

If you are an aviation enthusiast there is no better environment than Embry-Riddle. However, if your favorite movie is not Top Gun, youâ€™re getting in over your head. The school is full of professional, experienced teachers, a fleet of top quality airplanes, high-tech teaching simulators and expansive engineering and mechanics labs. Itâ€™s a blast living a few miles from the beach, and it can be extremely difficult to motivate yourself to get to class when the special events come to town. Between Spring Break, Bike Week, the Daytona 500, Black College Reunion and the general appeal of the beach, unless youâ€™re totally committed to school your grades will suffer during the spring term. Also, it can be prohibitively expensive to fly on-campus unless you are willing to go into soul-crushing debt, or your parents had a gold-clad financial plan for your education. The legendary Embry-Riddle reputation has helped me secure a job or two in the aviation industry, and Iâ€™m lucky to be in a financially and emotionally rewarding career I love. That being said, if I were to repeat the experience, I would probably opt for a much less expensive school and a more broadly applicable undergraduate degree and pursue my flight training at a local FBO.
