This is the type of college that has everything. The student body is composed of a diverse group of people, ranging the gamut of age, race, and background. Its location is ideal: close to the beach, warm weather many months of the year. The cost of the school is extremely low for in-state students and even quite reasonable for out of state students. The school is currently expanding and they are spending a lot of money to generate more research dollars at the university. I found the faculty to be genuinely caring and intelligent. It's the type of college that can challenge any student but the faculty truly care about the students and will help the students hurdle the challenges. The major focus at this university is students and it shows!
When people look back in retrospect, most would agree that you learn more outside of class than in a lecture hall. College is the first time that a young adult is really away from home and living an independent lifestyle. The best aspect of ECU is the fact that everyone truely cares about your education and personal development. They offer all of the resources you could possible need, plus some. At the same time, the faculty and staff are not going to hold your hand. You can go out drinking and partying every night of the week if you choose to. However, part of learning and developing as an individual is learning how to find a balance between fun and educational obligations.
