Davidson College is a liberal arts college located in North Carolina with a beautiful campus and a small-town feel. It is an excellent choice for the top student with an interest in medicine or other sciences, theology, or law. There is a strong honor code and ethics education is interwoven throughout the curriculum. It is small enough that professors know student's names and frequently socialize together.
Some people may find the small student population to be stifling, while others may find it comfortable and inclusive. The college is improving the diversity of its student body, but minorities may still find it too homogenous. Students looking for big-time college sports action need to look elsewhere. I would attend Davidson College again if given the choice.
Davidson has a fantastic reputation and that has helped my career since graduation, though Davidson is definitely best known in the South and has not yet developed a national reputation for excellence outside of the world of college admissions and academe. I currently live in Richmond, VA. If I had moved back to NY (where I'm from) I'm sure it would not be recognized by employers.
