Brooklyn College used to be one of those institutions that you thought of as the "College of Last Resort," because it was a commuter college that was close to home. People who went there usually couldn't afford the tuition of other state or private schools. However, the education at Brooklyn College is first-rate and I don't regret my decision to attend there at all. I found an exceptional mentor, who helped guide my studies and even offered me my first, full-time job in my profession. To this day, we keep in touch.
Brooklyn College has high academic standards and rigorous courses. Your degree WILL mean something. And the tuition is really affordable. If you need help, there are lots of opportunities for financial aid, work/study, grants and scholarships. On the negative side, it is a "city school" and it isn't exactly known for its athletics. Parking is horrible, but you can always take public transportation.
Getting involved in activities is the way to really enjoy your experience at Brooklyn College. You can join academic or social groups or get involved in some other worthy cause. However, when you finally get your diploma, I'm sure you will look back upon your years at Brooklyn College with as much fondness as I do. |
