This college is nestled in the Pine Ridge of Nebraska. It is a rural area. The campus has very lush green grass and many trees, the sidewalks are numerous and in good repair. Snow removal is top notch during the winter. Dorms are in good repair, with a few being newly renovated. Heat in dorms works well, as does the cooling system. Chadron does have a rather nice Walmart about 1.5 to 2 miles from campus. There are several nice city parks close to the campus, that are great for studying. The college itself is very technological up to-date. The administration is very pro-active in the success of the school and its students. It would be best to have a little run around car to get around, or to drive to bigger shopping opportunities.
CSC was a great place to attend my last two college years. The teachers really care about the students. If you were struggling in a class they helped find a solution. The student body was more diverse than I expected in a small town/rural setting. It always surprised me how someone from the West Coast for example came to attend CSC. You would sometimes catch yourself thinking you were actually in the mountains with all the pine trees and rough terrain in and around Chadron and Chadron State Park. Attending summer school was great because you were able to get some general classes completed and the dry climate kept the summer temperatures very pleasant.
About a third of the students at Washington and Lee University still receive some financial aid from interest on an endowment set up by George Washington in 1796.
