If I could do it over again I think I would choose BU again. If you want a traditional campus experience then BU is NOT for you. It's located on a two mile long busy street in Boston. At times you can feel very disconnected from the university experience, but I loved the courses and professors. Boston is such a tiny town you can walk through it an a day. I loved how it was easy to walk everywhere or take the train.
BU is powerhouse school, what's meant by that is that with pure size and resources you can do just about anything you want here at BU. The academics are awesome, in my seven semesters I have never had a TA/TF teach a class. The professors for the most part are engaging. The size turns some people off, but find your niche and you will be fine! As a side note, BU has some of the best college dorms in the world. I look out onto the Charles River to downtown Boston every morning, not many students can say that.
BU Medical Graduate Sciences masters programs were created for one purpose: to make BU money. The administration takes zero interest in student life and provides no funding whatsoever for activity. The teachers are knowledgable but seem to make the masters students the absolute bottom of their priority list. Combined with large class sizes, a student's best strategy is to befriend smarter students to explain things to them, as the professors simply don't make themselves openly available/caring.
The school states high acceptance rates into medical school, but this number is actually very misleading, as a bit of research would find that only ~25% of students who matriculate make it to a US med school.
While Boston University is very generous with financial aid, this really doesn't help with the cost of living in Boston and going out with fellow students who have a lot of money. The school is relatively conservative. My professor, when speaking about Alan Turing, said "he was a homosexual, which in itself was a tragedy." As far as the living situation goes, the BU dorms are rather nice and the dining hall food isn't so bad. The Charles River campus is nicely situated with the B Line running straight through it. Even though BU is in a rather large city, it really isn't overwhelming. If I had it to do over again, I'd still probably go there because the computer science department is pretty good.
Be able to deal wiht huge campus, student body. find the people most important to your school / subject / major and make sure they are interested in you and can help you out
Great school - large but not overwhelming as the university is broken down into smaller colleges where you spend most of your time. Plus having Boston at your fingertips enhances the experience!
Boston University is a wonderful school right near Fenway Park in the heart of Boston. There are all sorts of majors and the financial aid is wonderful. It is highly academic, but definitely worth it. I had to choose between three graduate schools, but I know I made the right choice. The people I graduated with were my peers, not competitors.
I enjoyed very much at university.
Is a good way to improve in our life.
Don´t quit studies never because is the only thing that keep all time.
I recommend very much this college.
People here is very kind and you will learn a lot.
