Located in Waco, Texas the town I came from was about the same size. Yet most of the students were from nearby Dallas or Houston. So, from the start, I felt like they had an advantage of sophistication I did not have. I also was popular and accomplished in my high school with a class of about 600 students. But it seemed everyone I met my freshman year was also a class favorite, cheerleader, athelete or valedictorian. I was intimidated. However, the campus was beautiful, the classes were engaging and I continued to do well academically--although with much more study than in high school. Soon I found my niche through friends at church and classes. It was a bit of an adjustment for me, but I persevered and was glad to have graduated from a college that is prestigious. Now, out in the world, I know what it is like to compete and not give up. |

Leaving Baylor was the worst mistake of my life. Baylor had it all - lots of bright, attractive, friendly people, not too many to feel at home and not too few to meet a nice variety; many, many fun and interesting activities and organizations in which to become involved; a feeling of community and school spirit; a great reputation for academics; Greeks, non-Greeks, and academic and service fraternities and sororities; sports; conservatives and liberals, and everything in between, (both students and professors); beautiful campus with lots of places to sit or hang out both outdoors and in dorms; and the whole gamut of services for students. My advice: go there, get involved, and take advantage of all that it has to offer. I think you'll have a great time AND get a very valuable education. |
