I would definitely reccommend Whittier College although I do not think that this school is for everyone. Whittier is a VERY small school - anyone who is looking to blend in to the crowd or hide in a large group would not be happy. If you do attend Whittier, my bset advice is to get involved - there are tons of groups, activities, clubs and other activities on campus. Pros: Small classes, personal interaction with professors, great educational opportunities, classes are easy to get to as the campus is very small. Cons: very small student body, no major sports teams, in a small Quaker community.
I chose Whittier for the wrong reason...it was far away from my parents. I didn't take the time to really investigate the school before enrolling. I found myself surrounded by dumb blond P.E. majors, and jocks of all stripes. Intelligent conversation was a rarity. The social life was good, if you have a taste for cheap beer and date rape. I would never choose Whittier if I could do it again. They do have a fantastic P.E. program, though, and there are some good book and record stores in town.
40 years ago, women used to score 50 points lower on the Math portion of the SAT than on the Verbal. Today, their Math and Verbal scores are nearly identical on average.
