I attended Pratt over ten years ago, so I can't comment on the present condition of the school. When I went there things were pretty lame and Pratt was still getting by on its reputation from the 50s and 60s. There were many talented students, and many bored, uninterested, tenured professors. If you needed help finding a job and you weren't a graphic arts student, you were out of luck. Artists are, by nature, pretty self-centered, so the school was not a haven for upbeat, get-involved, school-spirit people. There were many who took their work seriously and many who were only there because a liberal arts college would have been too hard for them. |
