I loved Oakland University! It was there that I finally found other people who had similar interests with me and made amazing friends. All of the professors I had were more than helpful and very understanding. The campus is beautiful and the experience was fantastic. I only wish I could go back!
Oakland University is located in rochester, michigan. The reason i joined this universtiy is because i was very inclined to the automotive industry and Michigan is the auto hub in US. This university is opposite to Daimler Chrysler Headquarters and many of the professors in the university gets projects from Chrysler. Chrysler is one of the big three auto companies in US. The university is associated with automotive industry and is a great place to launch your career in this industry. I had a chance to do an internship in GM with a program called AITE in Computer Science and Engineering department. The department chair is very helpful and has contacts with major auto suppliers as well. I was also fortunate enough to work on a research project from chrysler in the electrical department. There are some excellent research opportunites in the university. The campus is beautiful with a lot of greenery and has one of the best golf course in the state. There are a few negative points about this university too. The courses and some of the professors arent upto the mark. The winter in michigan is pretty bad. Giving an overall perspective I would recommend this university to other people but i would also suggest to check good schools in the state like MSU or UofM.
I would not recommend this school at all. It is mainly a commuter school. The science and math departments are always on probation and the teachers here are worse then you could imagine. however the area is really nice. If you want to live amongst rich people and don't care much for the college life then you might like it. We don't party. We don't have a football team. We don't have much school spirit. The majority of the students are friendly but it is difficult to get to know them.
