Brandeis University is a small, private university in Waltham, Massachusetts. It is located in the southwestern
corner of Waltham, 10 miles from Boston. Founded in 1948 on the site of the former Middlesex University, Brandeis is the youngest private research university, as well as
the only nonsectarian Jewish-sponsored college or university in the United States. The
university is named for the late United States Supreme Court Justice Louis Dembitz Brandeis.
