I got the feeling that most of the teachers there were political extremists, incompetent, or both. This is probably not very charitable, but in three years I've had only two professors I thought were on top of their game. Classes were generally demanding yet lacked rigor, I generally felt that I had been given a very patchy look at the topic, neither broad nor deep, not even focused. Sometimes grades were not clearly connected to anything I did in the class.
On the other hand, people were generally friendly. It's a commuter school, so nobody actually stays around long enough to be friendly, but people in clubs are usually welcoming. The main exception is in the anti-war and political clubs, where people tend to be hostile and dogmatic regardless of their affiliation.
Still, it was better than high school. People generally act like adults, and while the atmosphere can be cold, at least it is polite.
