Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) is a two-year community
college founded in 1909. It is located on a 74 acre (299,000 m²) campus right over the beach in the city of Santa Barbara, California. SBCC offers associate
degrees in arts, sciences, business programs, and occupational and technological training. It operates on an "open-door" policy
that allows anyone over eighteen with the equivalent of a high-school degree to attend -- thus it allows students with incomplete
or poor records to improve their grades and track record before transferring to the University of California, California State University, and other four-year colleges.As of 2003, SBCC enrolls 12,000 students in credit programs (with another
17,000 non-credit students in its Continuing Education programs). It is currently led by President Peter MacDougall.The college has invested a great deal in technology infrastructure in recent years, installing a fiber-optic network and
improving computer systems and Internet connectivity campus-wide. This has allowed an expansion in the number of courses
