It is very important to do some research ahead of time, try to find out which teachers you will be taking classes from, not the general ed teachers but the subjects for the major teachers.
This school is a great school to start fresh from high school, it's economical and classes are usually small, depending on the major some might be a bit large. In recent times this college has been trying to develop a more active student body since a lot of younger students are attending. It'd be a good idea to enter a club since many are moderated by teachers who can become your allies.
Don't let the label of "community college" fool you, this is a serious and academically oriented college. After moving on to a university I actually found it easy after the training I received at Ivy Tech. I would definitely spend two years at Ivy Tech if I had to do it all over again. The community, the location, and the massive amount of after class help available to students is a huge advantage over other schools I have attended. The only bad thing I can say about Ivy tech is that it isn't a four-year school... but that is the whole point right!
