The reason I chose to go to Housatonic is because my family didn't have the money to pay for my education at a 4 year college. My parents agreed to pay for me to earn my associates degree at Housatonic because it is so cheap! I learned basically the same amount, if not more at Housatonic as any of my friends that went on to four year schools did. The funny thing is that most of my friends ending up hating being away from home.. either they didn't do well and were forced to leave or just missed their friends and family. Now most of them attend Housatonic with me. Graduating high school I had no idea what I wanted to do. At Housatonic I was able to choose a general studies major, while I explored different concentrations, and still earned credit towards my Associates Degree. I know tons of people that went away thinking they knew what they wanted to do and ended up changing their mind half way through. They now have tons of classes/credits they they can't use toward their new major.
Another great thing about Housatonic is the articuation agreements they have with other universitys. As long as you earn an Associates in Science or Art and have a 2.0 GPA or higher, you are automatically accepted to any of the four Connecticut State Universities with the guarantee that all of your credits will be transferred. The Universities offer great financial aid bennefits and also making getting a loan a snap!
I would reccomend everyone attend a 2-year Community College in their area before picking a major and going to a 4-year University. You will save a ton of money and time. And you will also mature a lot before taking that big step to move out on your own.
Quarterback Steve Young's great, great, great-grandfather was Brigham Young, who founded BYU.
