Columbus State was a decent school. I had a good time there. The instructors where to me very informed and orginized. There was plenty of parking for students for a fee. The cafe was pretty good and the food you could eat. The location of the school is another story. The neighboorhood around the school is not a very good one. It has a lot of bad element just standing around. As long as you stayed on the campus you were safe. That is really the only bad thing that I didn't like about it. Also the rates could have been a little cheaper.
I would definitely recommend this college. I plan to take more classes in the future. Over the years, the school has grown dramatically. Sometimes, a shortage of instructors has led to the hire of some less than ideal instructors. However, the online courses available seem to be taught by the most caring and supportive indiviuals - very highly recommended!
Tuition is still the most affordable in this area. If a person wants to complete the first two years of a 4 year degree at CSCC, they will save money and receive much more personal attention than at a larger school. Also, through cooperative agreements with other colleges in Ohio, there is a standardized transfer module that is guaranteed to be accepted, so no wasted time on credits that don't transfer. Another plus is that the average student is considerably older than at many other local institutions - this is great for both the older student & the opportunity for younger people to be exposed to the realities of the working world. Also, each student is allowed to take up to 3 classes at other institutions, AT THE CSCC price! Classes at the nearby college CCAD often run to nearly $1000 each, so this is an incredible bargain!
One more thing - virtually all desks are right-handed :( there are some tables, but they fill quickly.
It is a bit tricky for left-handed students.
