Since it is a Community College, many people may have low expectations of J. Sargeant Community College. If that's the case, those people may be pleasantly surprised.
JSRCC offers a great education for the money that you spend. It's tuition is very affordable, and numerous scholarships and grants are available if a student needs financial assistance. The faculty is very helpful and they offer personalized assistance when the student needs or wants it. The class sizes are very small, often 20 students or below.
The variety of curricula is mind-boggling: everything from skilled trades to nursing, botany to photography, psychology to business administration.
All three JSRCC campuses now offer Wi-Fi access from anywhere on campus. This is a great new feature and I frequently took advantage of it with my laptop.
I recommend this college to any Virginia student. It's also easy to transfer to a 4 year university, and you'll save a great deal of money by going to JSRCC your first 2 years.
When P.T. Barnum donated money to Tufts University, he did so on the condition that the school's mascot be named after his beloved elephant. The Tufts University mascot has been the "Jumbos" ever since.
