I'm a language teacher.
After finishing French Teaching academy, I attended an online TESOL certificate program and succeeded to get the certificate. But I currently live in Turkey and there are'nt so much job opportunities for ELT here. Besides, the salaries are very low.
Other then these, teaching is one of the most tasty careers if you really love it. |

Anyone who is choosing teaching as a career should think seriously about what they want out of the job. Anyone who is absolutely passionate about teaching should probably go into the private sector. Teaching in the public schools is filled with myriad problems, the worst of all being that there are policies in place that actively discourage student learning.
I recommend this career for people who care about students and who are willing to work around the system for their benefit or who plan to go into the private sector.
I've had too much fun teaching to ever regret having chosen this field. However, it is a field that is going downhill quickly. If I had to do it all over again today, I'd take a pass.
It is a "safe" job in a recession. Many people use it to fall back on, which is a shame. I think it is just too difficult to deal with the discipline problems and politics unless you really love teaching the students.
Most people who think about going into teaching aren't aware that their jobs can depend on standardized test scores, and that they will end up having to choose between teaching the students something useful and teaching to the test. |

This is a noble profession.Take it up.If Iam given a chance to go to the same job I definitely would choose the teaching job. Teaching gives a chance to update your knowledge on the subject you teach. The same may become a boredom and tedious as we have to teach the same thing again and again. The work load is high to make you disgusted. To go as a teacher first you have to join a school where they are teaching the methodology and train you in child management and other things.after getting certificate from such centers you can search for the teaching job. |

Tips/Advice
1. make sure the age level you work with is compatible w/ your style of teaching and general personality - some people are born kindergärtners teachers and others dream of teaching advanced students calculus
2. Get as much experience, from as many sources, as possible before going into the classroom (teaching by yourself). This will help you know what to expect, teach you a variety of approaches to classroom management, teaching styles and strategies
3. Be realistic - teaching really is hard work & it is likely that most of your day is going to be spent doing administrative tasks and discipline
I would recommend this career, but I would not personally return to teaching
Pros of teaching
- regular schedule
- summers off or if year round, months off at a time
- public schools usually have great benefits
Cons of Teaching
- low salary
- long days (early in the morning until 5-6, or later if you coach or have open house/meetings)
- can get monotonous

I am a CPR & First Aid Instructor. I love teaching CPR but it is a hard business to get going because there is so much competition in my area. My advice would be to be the best teacher you can be, take any training that is available to you and be patient, word will get out. People will recommend you. |

I have worked in one form of education or another for the past 8 years. This is a career that allows me to make a difference while still learning new things myself. I would recommend this career to anyone that loves learning and enjoys working with people. I would not hesitate to go into this field if given a different opportunity.
The biggest pros of being in education is that no two days are alike and you meet amazing people of all ages. I think that the only con is that sometimes things are too restricted and educators don't have the freedoms they really need to be as productive as possible. If you want a career that allows you to grow both as an individual and as a professional, then look into education today. |

My job is a behaviorist. I work with children and adults with behavioral issues especially children with autism. This is a growing field. The job is rewarding in that I am creating changes in the lives of individuals who thirty years ago would have just been put in an institution. The downside of the job is the amount of driving that you do. The majority of my clients are very young and my job is to teach them the skills that they will need to hopefully attend school by the age of five. A typical case might include teaching a child how to eat with a spoon, dress himself, potty training. An autistic child may not have any speech and my job would include teaching them how to label objects and to request items. This job is a great experience but I recommend doing this for a few years and then explore getting a masters degree or a teaching credential to increase job opportunitites.

I have enjoyed being a teacher of private music lessons now for over ten years. It provides flexibility an the student get the individualized attention to get the amount of training that he or she may not get in a large group setting. It is a lucrative job, in high demand and offers great pay. |

Teaching Allied Health Care to adult learners is a very rewarding career for those wanting a change from being in clinical medicine, but be careful about choosing a school and be critical of the curriculum you will teach. There are many excellent schools with high standards, but some are little more than diploma mills and will pressure an instructor to pass everyone or burden instructors with administrative trivia that has little to do with instruction.
Check graduation rated for your field as well as accreditation in the school where you would teach, and if possible, speak with those who already teach there in private to get a real picture. Ask about staff turnover as well. And simply look at a classroom in session to see if students appear engaged or just marking time. If you can, speak with those who hire for this field to see how graduated of that school stack up to graduates of other programs.
Choosing carefully can make this a great change of pace profession. |

I work as trainer for UK based Life Insurance company. It has been a very satisfying career with a lot of oppurtunities to grow and learn. However one has to be prepared to constantly learn and unlearn things. Also ability to recieve feedback positively is important. The most important requirement for this career is that one has to be patient and curious to learn new things. Also having friendly nature is important. There are a lot of growth oppurtunities in this career. I would definitely recomment this career to any person with the above qualities. If I had to do it over again, I would stick with this career. One thing which I must warn you is that there is no fixed formula for success and one has to contantly reinvent the wheel. So if you chose this career be prepared to slog. This is a very satisfying job. |

Teaching is a wonderful career. It is very rewarding and a great challenge. Many people have this idea that you can be a teacher, work a few months and be off all summer. Sounds great. But GOOD teachers work 10-15 hours a day. After school events, planning, dealing with student issues, continue learning, as well as, grading papers and looking for new resources is more than a full time job. A teacher works weekends, holidays, and yes, all summer long. It is a very tough job for GOOD teachers, but worth every second, dispite the pay. If you think you can work a few months and have the summers off then you are looking into the wrong career. |

In education, teachers are those who teach students or from whom pupils learn, often in a school. The objective is typically a course of study, lesson plan, or a practical skill, including learning and thinking skills. The different ways to teach are often referred to as the teacher's pedagogy. When deciding what teaching method to use, a teacher will need to consider students' background knowledge, environment, and their learning goals as well as standardized curricula as determined by the relevant authority. The teacher should also be able to deal with students with different abilities and should also be able to deal with learning disabilities. Many times, teachers will have to do their job outside of the classroom by accompanying students on field trips. They also supervise study halls, help with the organization of school functions, and serve as supervisors for extracurricular activities. So as you can see it is a very varied job, highly rewarding if you are a peoples person. As an ESL teacher I have managed to see the world. The only cons I can think of is perhaps that it isn't one of the highest paid occupations out there but it surely is the most rewarding one by far! If you are a dedicated teacher it can be quite time consuming, so it has to be a calling more than anything else. |

As a substitute teacher I would highly recommend the career. Everyday is something new, something different. The hours are flexible. I pick what days and where I work. The hourly pay is pretty good. The downsides are the lack of benefits, and the lack of jobs during the summer. The school year is only 180 days long, so that's the most I can work in a year. |

Being a teacher is, like most other, a job with higs and lows, difference being that in being a teacher the highs are slightly higher and the lows are usually quite lower.
For one thing, the highs are indeed worthwhile. Being a teacher is one of the few things left in the world people still feel glad doing. Recognition, respect, rapport, interaction, you still get all these being a teacher.
There are, however, some drawbacks in being a teacher. It is, for instance, a job that will never fulfill you financially. You will probably never get your condo in Boca by teaching Primary School.
All considered, my advice for you is: take it. Teaching is cool, interesting, heartening, life-chaging. If you like doing it, and if you like it only. That is my case, so yes, I would do it again. Without a blink.
And the one thing I should tell people is, irregardless of the area where you work, teaching is a lot of hard work. Always. All the time. You'll always be taking work home. Always. Inevitably. |

I am a private violin teacher. I started out following in my family business as a public school teacher, but discovered when I did my student teaching that running a school program is quite complex and not at all what I wanted to do with my life. Too many political maneuvers required, too much non musical stuff to worry about, etc. So I took up teaching private lessons while in graduate school for performance, and I really like it. I like being flexible if I want to take a vacation. I like working with students individually and often getting to know their families if they come to my house. The downsides are poor pay and benefits, and probably bad hours, since you have to work when kids aren't in school and parents can bring them to lessons, usually from 3-9 pm. I get paid $30-$35 an hour, but I can only work 5-6 hours a day or so, max. And I'm self-employed, so have to pay higher taxes and get no benefits. For the first 4 years I did this it was a struggle. I was performing with every orchestra I could find and teaching some school classes as well to make ends meet, even for my little one room apartment. As I have now married a college professor, life is a bit easier. I can do what I love and not worry about the money. But not everyone has this luxury. There are those who make it work, though. I recommend getting pedagogy training, and if you want to work full time, join, or create a true professional studio with many many students and policies about timely payment and paying in the case of forgetting or missing a lesson. Things like that are what I didn't think about up front but learned rapidly that making a viable business is about more than just teaching the violin. |

Teaching Dance is quite rewarding and the hours are very good for those who like to sleep in. Pay is relatively good at between $15 (for those inexperienced) to $80 (highly experienced and in demand) per hour. However, don't expect a 40 hour work week. 20-30 hours a week is the norm. You need to like working with kids, and be a patient person as all kids and adults learn at different speeds. You will need to have or quickly develop choreography skills as well. Those that are good at choreography can earn $150-$2000 for dance routines. $300-$600 is the normal range for a choreographed routine. Tap, Hip Hop, and Ballet teachers seem to have the highest demand. Those with more experience and good reputations can demand higher pay. Work environments vary and private dance studios are rarely run as well as a typical business so you need to be flexible. Overall, teaching dance is a rewarding job offering average pay with excellent hours. |

I am currently a technology integration specialist at an elementary school and it is a wonderful career. It is stimulating because you are constantly at the forefront of the new technologies as they apply to education. The creativity aspects of the job are endless as the educational field is transforming before your very eyes. I would still go into this field. Important things to be aware of are that you must constantly update your tech skills and also tech budgets must be adequate. |

As an instructor within a company you will have very flexible working hours. Some weeks are very slow but others are full with work keeping at work for at least 16 hours.
Being an instructor is a very worthy job. You get to work with people, bring out the best in them, support them in new undertakings, guide them through problems and challenges.
I cannot think of a more interesting job. |

If you are passionate about the martial arts and enjoy helping people, then this is the job for you. If you find the right martial arts organization, you can make an excellent living and do something you enjoy all day long. The pros include an exciting work environment and never having the same old boring day. Some of the cons would include longer than average hours and it takes a lot of energy to teach good classes all day long. |
