I currently work in the construction industry, specifically in remodel siding, windows, and roofing. If you are looking for a job that does not require any post-highschool education, then this is for you. The benefits are that you can learn the trade rather quickly and make a decent salary (35-50,000). There are some negatives however. The work is very seasonal, sometimes employees go for weeks without work in the winter. It is also one of the most accident-prone industries in the nation. The other problem that has turned me off to working here further is that my earning potential does not have much chance of increasing. Unless I start my own construction company, I won't ever make more than $50,000/year.
The U.S. industry whose workers have the lowest unemployment rate is Government (2.8%).
