I have worked in food service for 8 years. It is fun most days. I enjoy feeding people and greeting students. It doesn't pay much when you first start but if you are at it long enough your pay increases. It can take awhile to move up the change in command. I don't like the inner company politics. If you like people and food the job is okay. Cooks usualy have to have years of work or schooling. In short if you want to make alot of money cooking, it could be disappointing to you. It mostly depends on who you work with.

Inadequate pay, annoying customers, and a cold freezer/prep room make for a lousy job, much less a career. If you work really hard you can become a supervisor and make a whopping 10-15 an hour.
This is a part time job for me. I work in a Deli and I love it. Its nice seeing a lot of the same people everyday and getting to know them. Its a great starter job for a teenager and you can learn a lot of different things about food working there. One of the most difficult parts of the job is selling tobacco products and alcohol. You must be ver dilligent at checking ID and making sure it is not a fake. The job itself isnt very hard, but you learn to listen well and perform quickly and efficiently.
