The best advice I can give would be that although the college education is necessary it isnt as important as the experience in the field. The experience is a lot more respected among the subordinant staff than the degree. I would really recommend this career. Yes I would do it all over again. Pro's are that you are your own boss. Con's are minimal.
I would choose to go into this career because of the organization of it all. With numbers, there is a very clear cut side to everything, and always a way to go back and find out where a problem originally came from. I find that finances are very satisfying, because you are able to see the big picture of any company.
Finance is a very stable career path. You will be sure to always find a job if you have a few good years of finance on your CV. It pays quite well too. It is not stressful at all, very black and white, and there always is an answer to everything, so it is also quite satisfying. Like being paid to do Sudoku really! The downside is that it has a 'boring' image so it doesn't look very glamourous. I hate it when people ask me what I do! I am currently trying to move away from this career path; I have been doing an MA for 2 years and working part-time, so was very lucky that I had such a well paid job to sustain me.
